Football might not be coming home this time, but every spring, something else definitely is.
Swifts travel thousands of miles from Africa back to the UK, returning to the same towns, streets and even the same nesting sites year after year.
These incredible little birds spend most of their lives in flight, eating, drinking, sleeping and even mating in the air. Some can stay airborne for months without landing.
After one of nature’s most incredible journeys, they arrive back in Britain just in time for summer.
So while we were waiting for football to come home…
Welcome home, swifts.
