This week isΒ Insect Week, a celebration of the tiny creatures quietly keeping our world alive.
Insects might be small, but theyβre doing some seriously important work. They pollinate wildflowers, feed birds and hedgehogs, recycle fallen leaves, improve our soil and help keep ecosystems healthy. In shortβ¦ the world would be a very different place without them.
Theyβre also wonderfully weird.
There are jewel-like beetles, fluffy bumblebees, acrobatic dragonflies, tiny leafhoppers, moths with furry faces, stick insects that look like twigs and caterpillars that somehow become butterflies. Every patch of grass is home to a whole little community.
At Wonderful World, weβre huge fans of celebrating the creatures that donβt always get the attention they deserve. We think worms are wonderful, beetles are brilliant and every bug has a story.
So this Insect Week, why not slow down for a minute?
πΏ Lift a log.
πΌ Watch a bee visit a flower.
π Count the ladybirds.
πͺ² Say hello to a beetle.
π Leave a few wild corners in your garden.
You never know what odd little friend you might discover.
Happy Insect Week from all of us at Wonderful World. π
